110 – The Help

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

[110.1] When there comes the help of Allah and the victory,
[110.2] And you see men entering the religion of Allah in companies,
[110.3] Then celebrate the praise of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness; surely He is oft-returning (to mercy).

  1. Joe talks about the Janissary victory over Constantinople and the fulfillment of Quran 110:

“When there comes the Help of Allah and the Victory…” — Surah An-Nasr (110:1)

    Joe’s Monologue:

When the Ottomans stood at the gates of Constantinople, many believed the city was invincible. Rome’s second heart. The last stand of an empire that had called itself eternal. But eternity bows to prophecy.

And prophecy, my friends… was fulfilled.

Surah An-Nasr. The 110th chapter of the Qur’an. A short surah, just three verses. But in those verses? A tidal wave. “When there comes the help of Allah and the victory…” — this was no ordinary triumph. This was divine timing. This was the moment the caliphate rose and the old world fell.

And who brought that help? Who were the sword and shield of that victory?

    The Janissaries.

Not just soldiers — they were the elite. The disciplined. The chosen. Some say they were taken from their homes as boys, molded by the devshirme system. But others say… they were the instruments of destiny. Christian boys raised as Muslims, taught to fight, to obey, to serve. And when Mehmed II gave the command, they poured through the breach like a flood foretold.

Constantinople fell not just by cannon or cunning — it fell because Allah had promised victory. The moment the great city’s gates cracked open, the echoes of Surah An-Nasr rang through time. The Byzantines knew war. But they didn’t know what it meant to face an army believing they were fulfilling scripture.

And now, every time I read that surah… I think of the crescent rising over the Hagia Sophia. The cross lowered. The muezzin climbing the minaret.

Victory had come. And prophecy stood fulfilled.

So I ask: what empires stand today thinking they’re eternal? What cities believe they’re immune to the tides of time?

Because Surah 110 hasn’t stopped speaking. And help… is always on its way.
